Mission: The Campaign for Coridan
Location: Coridan
Timeline: After the Attacks

After receiving orders from the Colonel, T'shir first patched a line from her station on the Bridge through to decks 5, 7, and 8 - the most likely locations for Captain Nimitz to be currently located. "Sub-Commander T'shir to Captain Nimitz. Please report to your nearest comm station. Incoming message from the Bridge.

Nimitz was in the middle of dressing, after her shower when the call came in. She finished and headed to the comms station. "Commander, Nimitz here."

T'shir responded, "Captain Nimitz, we've just been alerted that there are survivors trapped in rubble on the north side of Coridan City. We are taking a medical team to treat wounded. Are you can your K-9 unit available to locate missing individuals among the debris?"

"Yes sir." Nimitz said. "Bruno, Search and Rescue." She stated as Bruno gave a quick yip before heading off to get his other equipment. "I do have some Medical training, so we will be ready in 10."

"We will convene in the Shuttle Bay," T'shir responded.

Once she had finished speaking with Captain Nimitz, T'shir patched a comm line through to Sickbay. "Sub-Commander T'shir to Dr. Coleman. Incoming Message from the Bridge."

Coleman had been doing some final touches on some reports when he heard the Vulcan Comms Officer, T'shir come through and say that there was an incoming message from the Bridge. He leaned over and tapped his comm panel and replied, "Coleman here. Waiting as ordered."

T'lenn activated the comm again at the doctor's response, "Dr. Coleman, a medical team is requested to accompany me to the north side of Coridan City. There are survivors trapped in destroyed buildings and other debris. We anticipate wounded."

Coleman opened the comm back to T'shir and replied, "Okay, Commander. I'll get a medkit together and meet the team in the transporter bay in about five minutes."

"We will be taking a shuttle pod down, Doctor. We shall convene in the Shuttle Bay. T'shir out."

T'shir reported immediately to the Shuttlebay and began preparing their shuttle pod for departure. The hatch was opened when the others arrived.

Coleman had gathered his medical supplies and headed down towards where the shuttle pods were docked. Once inside the main shuttlepod area, he saw that T'shir was loading up a shuttle pod for their mission. Coleman put his medkit down and helped the Vulcan officer load some of the supplies while asking, "Do we know how bad it is down there yet?"

"Ground teams are finding more survivors than was initially anticipated. We are hopeful that with the Captain and her K-9 we will be able to locate more beneath the debris."

"Well, Captain. Do you think that you and your K-9 friend are up for a little bit of search and rescue?" Coleman asked with a gentle smile on his face, trying to get his own mind off the fact of a search and rescue.

"Yes sir, Bruno is already equipped with his rescue gear." Nimitz said tapping the vest with a white circle and red cross on it. "I have some Medical training myself, so I can help in field medical emergencies."

"Hopefully, we will find people who just need a little help to get out. But, I won't hesitate to call upon you to maybe help out, depending on the situation," Coleman replied with a smile on his face.

"Are we ready to depart?" T'shir asked, inviting the officers to enter the shuttlepod and take their seats.

Following the Vulcan officer into the shuttlepod and taking a seat, Coleman replied, "I'm ready to depart whenever everyone else is ready."

When the shuttle landed it was in a small clearing in the midst of rubble. Approximately two kilometers away or so, tall buildings stood that had managed to escape the impact of the Romulan ballistic missiles, but in their immediate vicinity most buildings had been more or less leveled. Rescue crews were already working, and a medical tent had been set up nearby. People with minor injuries sat outside of the tent holding bandages to bleeding wounds, or guarding injured limbs while they waited their turn in the triage line.

The group was directed to an area not far from the tent that the other teams had not had an opportunity to search yet. They were joined by two of their own marines who T'Shir recognized as civil engineers marched over to assist.

Coleman saw that there were multiple groups rummaging through various buildings that had been turned to ash and debris. He couldn't help but internally ask himself why would someone want to do this? But, then, Coleman remembered that these were just a random group of humans that wanted this done. It was the faceless Romulans. So, he just shook his head and waited to be directed to where he was needed.

"Back this way," a tall man with a ruddy complexion directed the group toward some rubble about 200 meters from the landing site. "We were using the school as a shelter, we thought we could hold the Romulans off before they got this deep."

"Any survivors so far?" T'shir asked.

"Not that we've found yet, but we're hopeful that one of the subfloors may have remained in tact enough to protect anyone inside. Here's a layout of the floors," the man handed T'shir a stack of printed blueprints that were wrinkled and worn. "We're working with engineers to pull back the rubble. But we could use some direction if your dog can detect survivors?" He turned to Captain Nimitz.

"How are we going to get them out of there once we find them?" Coleman asked, knowing that some of the injured might need to be stabilized with a backboard or something similar to keep them from being injured more.

"Our combat engineers are trained to assist in stabilizing any structural concerns while we work on extractions. Your assessment will be crucial regarding movement and treatment of any wounded," T'lenn responded. "I will assist in coordinating efforts between our crew and local resources. If you need anything, Doctor, please do not hesitate to make your request known."

"Okay, I'm going to head over to the field hospital and see if they could use an extra hand. I'm sure that they'd appreciate the help. If you guys need me for anything, let me know," Coleman replied to T'lenn and he made his way over to the field hospital that had been set up.

T'lenn surveyed the damage and nodded to Captain Nimitz that it was time to get to work.
