Personal History Alex Coleman was born to Nicholas and Alexandra Coleman, both of whom were Medical Officers attached to Starfleet Medical in San Francisco.

Alex was born to a family on Earth that dated back to World War III and the Eugenics Wars. His family included various families that worked on the Eugenics Project before it got out of hand, including the creation of people like Khan Noonien Singh. Alex’s ancestors didn’t know at the time that they were working on the Eugenics Project that it would create something like Khan. So, once Khan was older and started to take power with his fellow creations of Eugenics, Alex’s ancestors started to work with the remaining leaders of the world to make sure that they were overthrown before they mystically disappeared on a DY-100 class vessel into space.

Growing up, Alex had been told about his family’s past and their involvement in Eugenics and World War III. Alex’s parents explained that was why they became healers and physicians. They wanted to make sure that they could help heal the people of Earth and eventually, the universe around them and make amends for the people that their ancestors had hurt in previous generations.

That stuck with Alex and it propelled him into medicine himself. He studied hard while he was in university and eventually followed the path of his parents. Upon graduation from Medical School in what used to be Virginia in the United States of America, Alex quickly applied to Starfleet Academy in San Francisco to gain experience in space, so that he could eventually join Starfleet itself.

Since he had experience from college credits and medical school, Alex didn’t have to do the full four years if he didn’t want to. But, since Alex understood that there were more species than just humans, he decided to complete the four years of training at Starfleet Academy, as well as several more years in Starfleet Medical Academy. Alex wanted to make sure that he had the most rounded out education that he could, but knew that the extra education could help make sure that he could help the most people within the universe as well, such as Vulcans, Andorians, Tellerites, and more.

Upon graduating from the Medical Academy within Starfleet, Alex quickly enlisted aboard a Starfleet vessel patrolling the outer part of Earth’s solar system. He enlisted upon the SS Neptune, a Neptune-Class starship with a max capacity for Warp 2 and basically surveyed the solar system during the early to mid part of the 22nd century.

However, Alex was quickly ready for more adventure and saw the opportunity once the SS Intrepid was completed. He quickly requested a transfer to be the Assistant Chief Medical Officer aboard the Intrepid and was granted the position because of the Chief Medical Officer. The CMO was a Dr. Ben Jones, a close family friend. Dr. Jones was someone who had a familiar family background to Alex, but in a slightly older man and physician. Dr. Jones’ family could be traced back several generations to the Eugenics War and World War III as well.

Not only that, but Dr. Jones taught at both Starfleet Medical Academy and the University of Virginia, back where Alex had graduated with his original medical degree. Dr. Jones imparted several bits of information onto Alex and made sure that Alex was the best physician that he could be before sending him off to become the CMO of an Yorktown-Class Starship during the midsts of the Earth-Romulan War.
